Lloyd’s LGBTQ+ Mentoring programme

What is this programme?

As part of our drive to build inclusive work cultures, this mentoring programme seeks to support and develop our LGBTQ+ talent – helping individuals find the tools and advice they need to develop their careers within Lloyd’s and the wider market. We know from our wider mentoring platform that those in mentoring relationships feel more empowered, confident and happier in their careers – something that can be a challenge in the LGBTQ+ community and other minority groups.

This programme also builds upon the Advance and Accelerate programmes, which Lloyd’s already provides for the Corporation and market.

The application window is now open for Cohort 2 of the LGBTQ+ mentoring programme. You have until 16 February 2024 to apply as either a mentor or mentee. Applicants will be contacted late February to confirm their place on the programme and next steps.

We will have a set number of mentoring partnerships available and will select individuals based on the strength of their application (in the case where we have more prospective mentees than mentors).

The mentoring partnerships will last for 6 months with a range of supporting materials. Although not fixed, we recommend mentoring partnerships meet once a month during this period but this will be discussed in early conversations and supporting materials. At the end of this period the mentoring relationship will cease, although in some cases individuals may decide to continue if this is mutually agreed.

Who is it available for?

LGBTQ+ mentees

Due to the specific nature of the programme, those applying to be mentees should identify as LGBTQ+ and currently work within Lloyd’s Corporation or the Lloyd’s market – either in the UK or globally. Those interested will need to complete an application form and submit it before the deadline.

Mentees should be clear on what they hope to gain from the mentoring relationship so we can select and pair the best applicants.

Experienced mentors

We are also looking for experienced professionals who are able to mentor LGBTQ+ talent in our industry. These mentors could either be experienced LGBTQ+ professionals themselves or experienced allies who want to help support and develop LGBTQ+ talent. They should currently work within Lloyd’s Corporation or the Lloyd’s market – either in the UK or globally

This also creates a fantastic space where Exec sponsors of Pride networks can directly get involved to support the aims of your network – by stepping forward as mentors.

What's the application process?

You have until 16 February 2024 to apply as either a mentor or mentee. Please complete the relevant form and send it to us at prideandallies@lloyds.com. Application forms will be reviewed by the Lloyd’s Pride & Allies committee to determine suitability and assist with the matching process. Applicants will be contacted late February to confirm their place on the programme and next steps – which include finalising your profile on our PushFar mentoring platform.

What if I took part in the pilot?

If you are a mentee who took part in the pilot, you will need to send through an updated application form being clear on your new goals for being mentored.

If you are a mentor who took part in the pilot, you can simply email us to let us know you want to take part again. Should you have an updated job title, experiences or want to refresh your bio you will have the opportunity to do this ahead of the relaunch.
