Lloyd’s Benevolent Fund

Who we are

Many inspirational individuals have played their part in the history of the Lloyd’s market and thanks to some of them, the Lloyd’s Benevolent Fund was created. This has resulted in the proud tradition of looking after our own community.

Any of us can suffer misfortune at any time, perhaps due to ill health or other hardship. This is when the Lloyd’s Benevolent Fund is there to understand, assist and provide exceptional help in exceptional circumstances.

We provide support and financial assistance to those who work or have worked within the Lloyd’s community, including dependents, for at least 5 years in any role. The Fund can only help and assist those who qualify if such persons come forward or are made known to the Fund by family, friends or work colleagues.

What we do

Exceptional help in exceptional circumstances

We provide support and financial assistance to those who work or have worked, including dependents, within the Lloyd’s community.

The Lloyd’s community incorporates all underwriting, broking and corporation staff and family dependents who:

  • Work or have worked within the Lloyd’s market for at least 5 years and have savings and investments of less than £25,000
  • Are or were employed within the United Kingdom
  • Are in need of personal finance due to misfortune
  • Have medical problems or disabilities and need financial help

Our rules do not allow us to assist Underwriting Members of Lloyd’s.

If you are not certain that you meet these criteria, simply contact us. If we are unable to help directly, we may be able to suggest another charitable organisation.

How we can help

  • Ongoing monthly payments to top up your income. These are reviewed annually.
  • One off payments to finance essential items of equipment to help improve your quality of life.

The Fund is here to help and assist all those in need who qualify, but can only function if such persons come forward or are made known to the Fund by family, friends or work colleagues.
