CAMGA

In 2017, the Canadian Managing General Agents Association (CAMGA) was launched.  

The CAMGA is a trade forum that is established to play an important role in the education,  recruitment and digital innovation of MGA’s.  Our focus also includes working with Federal and Provincial regulators to assist in their understanding of how MGA’s operate and provide input into their approach towards regulation and compliance for MGA's across Canada.

Gross written premiums transacted by MGA’s in Canada soared in 2017 to over $3.5 billion and they continue to add jobs in the Canadian labour market, employing over 3000 people.

As part of the CAMGA objectives, they are working in collaboration with the Insurance Institute of Canada to develop an educational module for employees of the over 100 MGA’s across Canada to support their personal development.

A committee has been created, made up of MGA members, to ensure fair discussion and decision making on regulation issues and new rules imposed by both regulators and insurers.
