Every year, the Lloyd’s Market Charity Awards celebrate people in the Lloyd’s Market and Corporation who have gone above and beyond for their chosen charity. Funded by the Lloyd’s of London Foundation, the awards recognise the individual effort of these people, making a donation of up to £20,000 to their charity.
Over the years, the awards have supported around 400 charities and donated a total of two million pounds. Our winners have supported everything from educational charities and poverty relief to life saving medical research.
Applications are received from individuals who support a wide range of charitable causes however, it’s less about what the charity does that matters and more about how the individual has supported them or has been supported. Whether you’ve run, swam or cycled your way to raising money or volunteered your valuable time and skills, you could be in with a chance of winning.
Nominations can also be submitted, so if you know someone deserving of an award, please complete an application on their behalf.
Last year we had 8 winners from across the Market from the likes of Aon, MS Amlin, Chubb and of course Lloyd’s. Our winners have volunteered their time and contributed to their charity in different ways, from using their professional expertise and experience to advice on the Board of Trustees or working on the ground with beneficiaries.
Lais Tierno from the Financial Crime and Compliance team won an award for Under One Sky, a charity which provides support to people affected by street homelessness.
Lais began her involvement with the charity in 2021 after a friend who was already volunteering asked if she could fill in for her. She fell in love with the cause, and since then she has volunteered with the charity as an ‘on the ground’ volunteer, working tirelessly around London to provide lifesaving provisions for those living on the streets, understanding their needs and offering further support. Without volunteers such as Lais, this kind of support wouldn’t be possible.
