Vertical farm wall

Have you visited our farm in the Underwriting Room?

Our vertical farm is bringing ultra-fresh, sustainable, local produce to our community

We have installed a vertical farm wall in the Underwriting Room.

Currently growing 189 edible plants including parsley, basil, rainbow chard and thyme, the farm is designed to create a platform for engagement and empowerment around wellbeing and sustainability.

Vertical farm

What is the farm and how does it work?

The farm is a clever hydroponic system. A small pump circulates nutrient rich water from the tank to each column of plants. The water trickles down, feeding the plants at their roots. The high-efficiency LED lights help us to grow indoors, all year round.

What is the farm's purpose?

Bringing ultra-fresh, sustainable, local produce to our community.

Indoor plants can reduce fatigue, coughs, sore throats and other cold-related illnesses by more than 30%

What's growing?

We're currently growing 189 edible plants, including:

  • Parsley
  • Basil
  • Rainbow Chard
  • Thyme

Vertical farming

Growing vertically gives us a bigger surface area. allowing us to put this urban space to good use, growing 189 edible plants, all year round.

def. Hydroponic

Hydro (water) + ponos (labour), essentially water does the work. Our farms circulate nutrient rich water to sustain the plants without soil.

It takes around 3,000 litres of water to produce the daily food needs of one person

Water efficiency

Hydroponic systems use 90% less water than some conventional growing methods.
