China Reinsurance Group To Acquire Chaucer

On the 13th September 2018 The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc., (NYSE: THG) entered into a definitive agreement to sell Chaucer to China Reinsurance (Group) Corporation (China Re), subject to the successful completion of all legal and regulatory requirements.

Chaucer’s current Senior Management Team will continue to lead the business under the Chaucer brand through Lloyd’s Syndicates 1084 and 1176, international network, and underwriting

agencies, and CIC DAC, Chaucer’s insurance company in Dublin.

No alterations to the Senior Management team are anticipated as a result of the sale and purchase and Chaucer expects the regulatory process to conclude in either Q4 2018 or early Q1 2019.
