The Virtual Room experiment

Imagine you could find, discuss, and place risk with underwriters and brokers in different locations - without ever setting foot in the Lloyd’s building.

We are exploring how we might provide the experience of being in the Lloyd’s Underwriting room, wherever you are. It’s an experiment we’re calling ‘The Virtual Room’.

Over the last few weeks we have been sketching out the vision for this, centred around three key requirements: belonging to a community, connecting as a community, and collaborating as a community.

In the spirit of the Future at Lloyd’s programme, our priority has been listening to you through a series of interviews and understanding your unique needs for this digital space.

We’ve heard that while you have managed to find a routine when working remotely this has not come without its difficulties. One of our top priorities for the virtual Lloyd’s experience is to help make your remote working experience easier.

As we strive to shape a market where the digital and the physical Underwriting room coexist seamlessly, both networks and connections will be two of many key ingredients. As we continue on this journey, we’ll be posting regular updates and blog posts about what we learn and what this means for The Virtual Room.

We can’t do this without you. We need to hear more about your experiences of working remotely, and what we should prioritise in developing The Virtual Room. Only by working together we can build and belong to the most advanced re-insurance marketplace.

If you’d like to help us, you can volunteer your time to be interviewed, or to review early trials of our Virtual Room features. To be part of our research group click here.
