Supporting veterans and their families

Over the last 200 years Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund has been uniting the Lloyd’s market to support veterans and their families, and last year we announced a new strategy which supports the transition to civilian life for veterans and their families who need it the most.

A huge thank you to all the companies in the Lloyd’s market for their generous donations to the joint fundraising campaign, which has funded the work of the Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund and the Royal British Legion Lloyd’s and City branch over the last year. Thanks to their support, Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund is able to work with two charity partners, Combat Stress and RFEA The Forces Employment Charity to address the mental health and employment needs of veterans and their families.

Improving the way veterans can manage complex mental health needs through your senses. We are funding pioneering research into the use of sensory modulation to help embed the strategy into therapy treatments. Hear Julian’s story of how this technique helped him.

Providing Families Employment Advisors to support spouses and partners into employment. The programme aims to help people like Dylanie  build confidence, develop their strength and help apply for jobs in a tough market today.

Thanks to unrestricted donations from Lloyd’s COVID-19 charitable donations campaign, both organisations have been able to adapt their services so they can be delivered virtually and they continue to support a growing pool of veterans and family members. 

Royal British Legion Lloyd’s and City Branch
The Lloyd’s and City Branch continues to support the work of the Royal British Legion Homes delivering solutions to help residents stay in touch during this difficult time. This includes IT screen and tablets at Galanos House in Warwickshire; refurbishment of the Dementia Unit at Lister House, North Yorkshire; wheelchair-safe access to the gardens at Mais House in East Sussex; and an external structure to allow COVID-safe visits at Maurice House in Kent.  The Branch is also supporting Tech Vets who provide skills to veterans in search of employment in the emerging Cyber and Technology sectors and the funding of stress rehabilitation courses for military bomb disposal personnel through the Felix Fund charity.
