DiscoverMarket primarily focused on developing a comprehensive and scalable crop insurance product that leverages Carbon Credit projects and sustainability-linked initiatives (e.g. NetZero commitment) to provide financial protection for smallholder farmers, whilst addressing the challenges of distribution, affordability and basis risk.

Whilst on the programme, DiscoverMarket worked on developing a comprehensive product that addressed the needs of smallholder farmers – designing the index, selecting data sources, refining actuarial models and developing scalable go-to-market process. This resulted in DiscoverMarket developing a first index for excess rainfall, identifying the best data sources and building tools for iterating on index designs. Risk models and pricing. DiscoverMarket are currently collaborating with multiple clients on pilot projects in Southeast Asia and Latin America.
