Remembrance Day

Lloyd’s Remembrance Day Ceremony

Each year, on the Friday prior to Remembrance Sunday, the Underwriting Room is packed with thousands of ex-service personnel, brokers, underwriters, and Lloyd’s staff to pay their respects to those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. The poignant service concludes with a two-minute silence marked by the ringing of the Lutine Bell and a bugler playing last post.

A guard of honour is provided by HMS President Royal Naval Reserve, F Company 7 Rifles and local cadet units, with several Chelsea Pensioners in attendance.

Following the service, Lloyd’s hosts the guard of honour for lunch and the LMN will usually meet at the end of the day for a drink in a local pub.

The Royal British Legion organises the annual Remembrance Service at Lloyd’s and co-ordinates the preceding Poppy Collection Day where veterans and serving members of the Armed Forces combine to collect for the RBL across the City.
