New volunteering skills development tool for the Lloyd's market
Learn more about the exciting and different personal development opportunities available through our Lloyd’s Community Programme Volunteer Skills Matrix
Lloyd’s Community Programme offers a wide range of volunteering opportunities for companies across the Lloyd’s market to get involved in. We see volunteering as a valuable way for people to use their personal and professional skills, as well as develop new ones.
Last year, 2,500 volunteers from 78 companies in the market donated more than 20,000 hours to support Lloyd’s Community Programme (LCP), helping over 5000 people. Volunteers took part in a huge range of initiatives from financial literacy and employability workshops, mentoring students, and holding masterclasses in insurance to help individuals across London achieve their full potential.
Our volunteers told us that through taking part:
- 85% developed their ability to motivate and develop others
- 83% felt that taking part increased their wellbeing and happiness
- 80% improved their communication skills
We encourage people to include their volunteering in their personal development plans for the year, as volunteering is a great way to complement more formal training routes and reinforce learning in a different environment.
To formalise the benefits of volunteering, we have created a volunteering skills matrix which outlines the transferable skills that can be gained through each of our opportunities. This will help people identify the right opportunity for professional development as well as find a rewarding and enjoyable volunteer activity.
