Lloyd's Family Care Policies extended globally

Fri 20 Dec 2019

Our market-leading Family Care Policies are going to be extended to cover all our colleagues, globally

At Lloyd's we’re proud of our market-leading care policies. Our policies are designed to provide employees with the support they need to enjoy happy and healthy working and home lives, whatever that looks like for them.  We provide significantly more enhanced benefits than statutory entitlements, and in some cases provide new rights to which employees are not currently entitled to under statute. This is part of our genuine commitment to making Lloyd’s an employer of choice.

In a further development of these policies, we’re delighted that from January 1, 2020 we are extending our UK family care provisions to all global employees.

This family care provision provides 26 weeks paid leave for primary or secondary care givers when you start a family, with an additional four weeks full pay to support a phased return to work. It is not gender-specific and applies regardless of how our people want to start a family, and regardless of length of service.

Other Care policies applicable globally today include:

  • Emergency leave: five days paid emergency leave for any unforeseen challenges our employees may face
  • Sabbaticals: one month paid leave for sabbaticals of two-12 months once you’ve worked for Lloyd’s for more than five years
  • Flexible day-to-day working practices: flexibility about when and how employees work, recognising that a formal flexible working request won’t be appropriate for one-off situations.
  • Dress for your day: recognising that our employees should feel as comfortable as possible when at work, whilst still looking appropriate for client meetings and external appointments. Employees are therefore encouraged to ‘dress for their day’
