Hank Watkins, Regional Director and President of Lloyd’s Americas, provides a short update on US (re)insurance market conditions and Lloyd’s priorities across the region.
“Lloyd’s is the first market that US brokers think about when their clients bring difficult exposures to them,” says Watkins, speaking on a recent visit to London.
“Lloyd’s has been doing business [in the US] for over 125 years and we are the leader in the excess and surplus (E&S) lines space, which is itself about 10% of the overall US property & casualty (P&C) insurance marketplace. This is where the most innovative and creative underwriters in the world make their reputations.”
“The fact that you can get someone to listen to you with a very difficult risk that you might not otherwise get in the US makes for a very robust reception and opportunity for Lloyd’s to grow in the US.”
