Lloyd's Market Charity Awards open 12 August

Mon 12 Aug 2019

Do you support a charity close to your heart that could benefit from £4,000? Applications open 12 August for the Lloyd’s Market Charity Awards.

Every year, the Lloyd’s Charities Trust donates £4,000 to 30 charities on behalf of the extraordinary individuals in the market who volunteer or fundraise in their spare time or have been helped by a charity themselves.

Which charities are successful is always a very difficult choice for trustees to make, given the details applicants share of amazing feats of physical effort, considerable time commitments or stories of where a charity has made a real difference to them.

Last year all applications were very impressive, with winning charities receiving an increased donation of £4,000 each. Successful applicants supported charities focussing on everything from kidney disease research to promoting humane behaviour towards all animals. Every year we receive applications from a wide range of charities with different but equally important focus areas, and we are honoured to recognise the hard work of individuals in the market.

In 2018 Laura Harrison, QBE, won an award on behalf of the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.  CEO, Kate Alden, explained how the money provided was a “lifeline which meant they could support 160 clients with complimentary therapy and counselling”.
