Ireland: Submission of Motor Policy Data to the MIBI

The Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Ireland (MIBI) has recently made two changes to the procedure for uploading motor liability policy data to the national motor insurance database.

1. With effect from 23 March 2015 all insurers, including Lloyd’s managing agents, will be required to upload their full dataset of all vehicles insured at the end of each day. This will replace the current process whereby insurers upload a daily list of vehicles that they no longer insure and those for which new policies have been taken out.
2. Managing agents who permit a coverholder or service company to upload motor liability policy data to the national motor insurance database on their behalf will have to sign a form that specifically authorises the coverholder or service company to perform this function.
