We are proud to support Habitat for Humanity Great Britain. Our partnership launched in October 2019 and together we are building resilient communities that can withstand and recover from the devastating impact of natural disasters.
Our current support project – the Urban Resilience Building Assistance Network in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – partners with a community that has been hit by several destructive flooding events over the last 20 years. Working with local communities and authorities, this project will build community resilience to protect against flood hazards through sewage infrastructure and better hygiene practices in congested urban areas by utilising collaborative resources. This collaboration is key to the success of disaster preparation and is at the heart of this project.
Our support for this project will deliver improvements to the drainage system, benefitting 4,000 households and giving 20,000 individuals access to sanitation facilities, improved water and a ‘flood risk map’ to understand hotspots and develop future mitigation measures.
