Lloyd's Patriotic Fund
Founded in 1803 to assist the many casualties of the Napoleonic Wars, Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund is one of the oldest military charities of its kind and has been providing support to the armed forces community on behalf of the Lloyd’s market for over two hundred years.
Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund provides support to a number of organisations with a particular focus on those who are disabled or face poverty, illness and hardship. Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund has committed funding of £100,000 towards the Felix Fund’s Normalisation Breaks Programme for Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams.
The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home received a donation of £130,000 from Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund in June 2014. This award will provide one-year’s funding for the charity’s rehabilitation programme for military veterans who have sustained life-changing injuries or conditions.
Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund is supporting Walking With the Wounded’s Project Nova early intervention programme with a grant of £70,000 to help address the problem of veterans in police custody.
In June 2013 Veterans Aid was awarded a grant of £200,000 to fund the Personal Empowerment Programme for one year from 1 July 2013.

On 23 November 2011, Lloyd's Patriotic Fund was delighted to announce a major donation of £200,000 to BLESMA, the limbless veterans' charity.
At the end of 2010 Lloyd's Patriotic Fund made a substantial donation to a newly formed charity, Families of the Fallen, which aims to help alleviate the hardship caused to the families of those killed in action in recent and current conflicts.
Military operations in Afghanistan have resulted in service men and women returning to Britain with serious injuries.
The grants provided by Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund to service and ex service people and their families for cases of real need can make a valuable difference to people’s lives.
In 2010, Lloyd’s was recognised in The Royal British Legion’s Friends of The Forces Awards for its on-going support for members of the British Armed Forces and has won the Corporate category for London.

The nature of military engagements might have changed over the intervening years but the importance of providing practical support for those who have made great sacrifices on behalf of their country remains as important now as it was in 1803 when Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund was established by the Lloyd’s market.
