BLESMA

On 23 November 2011, Lloyd's Patriotic Fund was delighted to announce a major donation of £200,000 to BLESMA, the limbless veterans' charity.

The donation from Lloyd's Patriotic Fund, made possible by the support of the Lloyd's market, will fund an exciting programme of rehabilitation activities for seriously injured ex-servicemen and women during 2012.

The rehabilitation activities range from angling to sky diving, white-water rafting to skiing - and BLESMA will be inviting volunteers from the Lloyd's market to help with these events.

Families of the Fallen

At the end of 2010 Lloyd's Patriotic Fund made a substantial donation to a newly formed charity, Families of the Fallen, which aims to help alleviate the hardship caused to the families of those killed in action in recent and current conflicts.

Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund also provided significant support for an important major project to enable families of injured service men and women to stay near to their loved ones who are receiving emergency treatment or recovering in one of the military medical establishments.

Our history
The nature of military engagements might have changed over the intervening years but the importance of providing practical support for those who have made great sacrifices on behalf of their country remains as important now as it was in 1803 when Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund was established by the Lloyd’s market.

The history of the first 200 years of Lloyd's Patriotic Fund is recorded in a beautifully illustrated book, Unbroken Service, which is available from the Lloyd's Shop.
