Lloyd’s International Regulators’ Programme 2014

In September, the Lloyd’s International Regulatory Affairs team hosted Lloyd’s 14th annual International Regulators’ Programme, attended by 19 senior regulators from 16 jurisdictions.

Tue 28 Oct 2014

The programme, supported by the UK Regulatory Authorities (the Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority), the LMA, IUA and LIIBA, is designed to provide international regulators with an in-depth insight into the operations of Lloyd’s.  The event not only presents a unique opportunity for Lloyd’s to build and develop relationships with regulators, it also allows the regulators to meet and discuss with Lloyd’s divisional and market experts. This year, for the first time, Lloyd’s welcomed delegates from Lithuania, St Lucia, Nigeria and Tanzania, who joined their counterparts from Brazil, Chile, China, Dubai, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, South Africa and the US.

As well as providing an intensive schedule of lectures and break-out sessions on Lloyd’s unique structure, financial strength and the robust oversight extended over the market, the programme gave delegates an opportunity to hear from a Lloyd’s underwriter and broker on their perspective of the market.  The delegates experienced the subscription market first hand by spending some time in the Underwriting Room with an underwriter.  They also attended various events around Lloyd’s and the City of London.
