Lloyd's Market Charity Awards 2018
Lloyd’s Charities Trust is proud to announce the 2018 winners of the Lloyd’s Market Charity Awards.
This year Lloyd’s Charities Trust doubled their donation giving £4,000 to 30 charities on behalf of individuals in the market, in recognition of their fundraising and voluntary work. Awards are also made to charities that have given invaluable support to those whose lives have been affected by difficult circumstances.
In 2018 85 applications were received, and all of them were very impressive, making the final decisions very difficult. The full list of winners can be found here.
The awards were presented by John Neal, Lloyd’s CEO, who said:
The inspiring work of individuals in the market is remarkable. It is humbling to be involved in an event that highlights the support that our marketplace gives to their communities.
Julia Semple, QBE, won an award on behalf of Little Village, a charity she has worked with for a number of years. After being unsuccessful in her application last year, her dedication and continuous support showed the judges just how much this charity means to her. Rebecca Wilson, Director of Little Village Wandsworth, talks about what this award will allow the organisation to do;
The funds from Lloyd’s Market Charity Awards will go straight into our bottom line which pays for the hire of the building that we run everything from. It gives us a stable base from which to plan our activities, which is invaluable and essential in these uncertain times.

Laura Harrison, QBE, won an award on behalf of the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity who helped her through her own battle with cancer. Holly Butler from the charity said:
Thank you once again for supporting our charity; £4,000 is a huge donation! It enables us to continue enabling quality of life for people living with cancer. When Danny Awin’s wife became ill a couple of years ago, they were both were supported by the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity. This care continues today with monthly counselling to help Danny cope with his loss.
