Welcome to Lloyd's in Morocco (Casablanca)

Serving the businesses and entrepreneurs that drive the Moroccan economy

Our Story in Morocco

We have been supporting the Moroccan insurance industry for many years as an offshore reinsurer, and opened our Casablanca Finance City office in 2018.

Lloyd's was granted CFC status in 2018 and established an office in the Casablanca Finance City (CFC). The aim is to improve access to the Lloyd’s market and support capacity building across North West Africa. This will be vital for realizing sustainable development and building resilience for the future.

The CFC status allows Lloyd’s managing agents to appoint coverholders and service companies established in the CFC to underwrite Moroccan and regional (re)insurance business on their behalf.

This will enable the Lloyd’s market to provide specialist risk solutions for a range of risks including marine, aviation and other Moroccan risks where there are no solutions provided locally, and re-insurance of Moroccan risks and non-Moroccan risks (when permitted in the corresponding jurisdiction).

Our work in the community

Lloyd’s is committed to improving lives and building resilience in the local community. Through the Lloyd’s Together programme we support local communities with projects that focus on education and employability, environment and sustainability, social welfare and health and disaster preparedness and relief.

More recently, Lloyd’s has contributed towards Special Moroccan Government Fund for the management and response to COVID-19.Morocco has hosted several African insurance events, including those of the African Insurance Organisation and the Rendez-Vous de l’Assurance, many of which have been actively supported by Lloyd’s through sponsorships. Lloyd’s has sponsored key specialist staff working in the Moroccan Insurance sector for training in its Global Development Programs in London. Lloyd’s have also hosted Cyber Risks Workshop in Morocco see press release at the link below.

The Lloyd’s market champions diversity and is leading the field in encouraging open, inclusive cultures across our industry.

Bringing Africa closer to Lloyd’s and Lloyd’s closer to Africa

Africa’s strong demographic profile and wealth of natural resources present huge opportunities for its economies.
