I am attending the launch of an important economic study this evening at Westminster. The report, produced by Cambridge Econometrics and reviewed by Professor Paul Ekins from UCL, seeks to answer the question "Will UK climate change policy make us better off or worse?"

Last week Lloyd's published a report on the impact of climate change on Catastrophe Modelling. Today, the Lighthill Risk Network (LRN), which is funded by Lloyd's funds along with Guy Carpenter, Aon and Catlin, has published a paper on the uncertainty within models of the Earth's climate.

Lloyd's has been firmly of the view for a number of years that the climate scientists know what they are talking about: climate change is happening; it is largely manmade and it is contributing to many extreme events around the world. Furthermore their basic predictions have not changed since the early 1990s.

Cyber security is a growing threat in the UK and globally, with estimates that UK businesses lose £21bn a year to cyber crime. To tackle this ever growing global threat, I attended a conference hosted by GCHQ this week which told companies to create a more security-conscious culture and gave practical advice to businesses on how to do so.

Following on from my blog yesterday I've another comment to make about the NAIC hearings on March 28th in Texas.
