Lloyd's Community Programme

Building a stronger local community through volunteering in east London.

Get Involved

Lloyd's Community Programme volunteers help to build a stronger local community by getting involved in projects in east London. In 2015, we want to match the success of previous years and work with people across the Lloyd's market to share their skills and enthusiasm.

Volunteering can range from an hour a week to just one day and is hugely rewarding for all involved. Over 45 managing agents and brokers in the Lloyd's market are supporters of Lloyd's Community Programme. If you are interested, have a look at our four focus areas to find out which volunteer opportunity is right for you.

Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership Video Competition

The Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnerships Video Competition is a great opportunity for our existing partners and mentors to engage their students around the general election in a fun and exciting way. It is aimed at students in Tower Hamlets from ages 6 and up, who benefit from the support and guidance of a regular business volunteer through a THEBP scheme. It will provide an opportunity for students to practice their presentation and writing skills in a fun, topical and interesting way, and is also intended to inspire students to be active citizens.

To tie in with the upcoming general election, we are challenging students to produce a 1-2 minute video on the subject of “If I were Prime Minister…” Students should film their video during a regular meeting with their business volunteer and can spend as much time and be as creative with their entry as they like.

The competition is easy to enter and flexible enough to allow entries from children from the many different age groups and long-term schemes that we run. Prizes will be awarded to students in different age categories. The winners and runners up will be invited to a prize-giving and premiere event on the afternoon of Thursday 14 May 2015, kindly hosted at Talbot Underwriting. Their videos, plus others we select, will also be showcased on our website.

For more information and to sign up, contact Ana Svab (Ana.Svab@thebp.co.uk).
