Law and regulation – are you up to date with the latest developments? The Law Commission proposals for insurance law, Solvency II, international trends in regulation: these and other developments impact all participants in the Lloyd’s and London Market and it is increasingly important to stay informed of the debates.
On 14 May 2008 Lloyd’s is hosting “Insurance Law & Regulation: National and International Debates and Future Direction”. This half day conference provides a unique opportunity to hear from leading figures in the fields of insurance law and regulation, including speakers at the forefront of changes affecting the industry. Topics to be covered will include developments in the UK but also trends and current issues in Europe and internationally.
This high-level seminar will be relevant to anyone in the London or international insurance market with an interest in insurance law and regulation.

The conference will be introduced by the Chairman of Lloyd’s, Lord Levene. Confirmed speakers include: Michel Flamée, Chairman, IAIS; Gérard de la Martinière, President, CEA; David Hertzell, Commissioner, Law Commission; Colin Edelman QC, Devereux Chambers and Sean McGovern, General Counsel, Lloyd’s.
Lloyd’s is also pleased to be hosting this conference in association with the Centre for Commercial Law Studies (CCLS) at Queen Mary, part of the University of London. CCLS at Queen Mary is the oldest centre of its kind in the UK. Today CCLS is recognised around the world as one of the leading and largest teaching and research centres for commercial law. The association with CCLS means that in addition to market participants, academics and students who have an interest in insurance will be able to join the sessions and the discussions.
