
Lloyd's hosted a Class Business Event on Engineering - Construction All Risk and Erection All Risk (CAR/EAR) on Tuesday 22 November from 10:30 to 14:00 in the Hotel Orfila in Madrid.
The overall purpose of the Class Business Event was to use the Lloyd’s Iberia network to provide underwriters with a greater understanding of the Spanish market and to help Managing Agents decide if and how they might want to develop the engineering insurance business -Construction All Risk and Erection All Risk (CAR/EAR) - in this region. In recent years the Spanish construction companies have increased their business abroad (USA, LATAM and other countries) and need experienced markets to cover its global risks.
The meeting was attended by 50 professionals specialized in the sector, including syndicates, brokers, risk managers and experts.
Juan Arsuaga, managing director of Lloyd’s Iberia, made the opening speech, which was followed by:
- Agustin Barrenechea, Construction Manager from Willis, Spain, who talked about International Opportunities
- Susana Cuenca Miranda from Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO), who presented the lender point of view
- Paul Latimer from Catlin who presented the Syndicate point of view
- Rogelio Bautista, Risk Manager from Abengoa, who talked about the risk manager point of view
After the closing remarks a drinks reception took place where attendees could exchange their points of view and make contacts.
