Sportscover girl living Olympic life

Lloyd’s insurer Sportscover is celebrating after one of the athletes it sponsors got her Olympic dream.
Sarah Thomas, 27, has been selected for the GB Squad bidding to win the women’s hockey gold medal in China this summer.
Matthew Riley, Chief Executive of Sportscover Europe, says: “We congratulate Sarah on her marvellous achievement. Sarah will be the sole Welsh player in the team representing Great Britain at the largest amateur sports event in the world. This is truly something she can be proud of and it is a success story that Sportscover are delighted to be associated with.”
After studying for a degree in Sports Science at Exeter University, Thomas, who can play in midfield or as a forward, went to play hockey in the Netherlands for Rotterdam and was awarded player of the year this season.
Australia headquartered Sportscover, which writes Lloyd’s business on syndicate 3334, is the premier provider of sports insurance to amateur sportsmen and women throughout the world. And Riley says Thomas’ rise through the hockey ranks from club, regional and international level “echoes the ethos of Sportscover” by being involved in amateur sport from grass roots to international level.
He adds: “Sportscover are proud to be supporting Sarah in her preparations for the Olympics in Beijing, and we will be cheering her and the entire GB squad on in their medal attempt in August”.
The GB women’s team begin their Olympic quest on August 10 against Germany and will also face Argentina, Japan, New Zealand and the USA in their pool.
