Time is fast running out for participants to join in the 2008 Lloyd’s Charity Challenge.
From Tuesday 3 June 2008, a month-long quest will begin to raise a pile of cash in the name of charity - but all applications must be received by 16 May.
The mission, should the market wish to accept it, is for teams to engage in white-hot competition against each other in pursuit of a single goal – raise as much money as possible for one of Lloyd’s three partner charities Coram, FARM-Africa and Samaritans.
Lloyd’s Chairman Lord Levene and his two judges – Marketform Chairman Holly Bellingham and Argenta Syndicate Management’s Deputy Chairman, Graham White – will officially launch the event and set the teams an initial challenge, requiring a whole range of skills.
Participants will also discover which of the charities they’ll be working for.
The teams, which must consist of a minimum of six and a maximum of ten members, will then have a month to devise inspired, wallet-opening ideas that raise as much money as possible. It will test powers of organisation, lateral thinking, leadership and all the other skills Lloyd’s underwriters and brokers bring to work each day.
The team raising the most money by the final event on July 8 will be crowned ‘Challenge Champions’, and receive a prize for their achievements. The accolade ‘Challenge Creatives’ will be awarded to the team with the most innovative approach to their fundraising in the opinion of Lord Levene and his trusted allies.
Teams already entered include representatives for Beazley, Canopius Managing Agents, Lloyd's and Willis.
