Lloyd’s picked up its 11th gold certificate for effective waste management during the Clean City awards last week. The scheme is an initiative by the Corporation of London designed to develop a partnership with City businesses to achieve a clean environment through good waste management.

Established in 1994, over 1200 City businesses are involved, with the aim of promoting effective waste management by recognising and rewarding good practice and encouraging waste minimisation, reuse and recycling.

Handling waste responsibly not only has environmental but also business benefits. These include reduction in costs, improved company image, improved health and safety and a more pleasant working environment.

Roy Parrish from Cleaning and Building Support Services at ISS Coflex attended the award ceremony which took place on Friday 13 January 2006.

Judging was undertaken by an independent panel following monitoring of premises.
