Engage our employees on the commitment to address climate change

Engage our employees on our commitment to address climate change, helping them to play their role in meeting this commitment in the workplace and encouraging them to make climate-informed choices outside work.

Lloyd’s has an ongoing programme of communications with users of the building to address climate change, which in 2008 included:

  • A ‘Green Award’ competition to encourage employees to put forward their ideas for environmental improvements in the workplace, with the winning idea to be implemented in 2009
  • Climate-friendly options as part of the 2008 staff benefits package including an option for employees to calculate their personal carbon footprint and help keep down global carbon emissions by supporting environmental development projects or protecting the rainforest
  • ‘Bike workshops’ providing free bike services to employees and members of the Lloyd’s market who cycle in to work.
  • Information and advice on our intranet site about different issues such as switching off equipment and greener travel options;
  • A network of ‘Environmental Champions’ from across the business who feed in ideas and disseminate information back to their teams.
