Lloyd's funds PhD students on climate change

Support and undertake research on climate change to inform our business strategies and help to protect our customers' and other stakeholders' interests.

Lloyd’s continues to fund two PhDs via CASE awards from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council at the London School of Economics.  The first is under the supervision of Professor Lenny Smith and the second under Professor Dave Stainforth. Both students are looking at global climate model output and seeking robust data to help the insurance industry manage climate risk.
