Keeping products up to date: presentations on Liability Risk

Use research and improve data quality to inform levels of pricing, capital and reserves to match changing risks.

Trevor Maynard, manager of emerging risks at Lloyd's, gave presentations at two well attended seminars at Robinson's College Cambridge. Attendees included representatives from many Lloyd's managing agents and other insurers and reinsurers, brokers and legal firms.

The first seminar covered professional indemnity insurers and the second covered general liability insurers.  Maynard's presentations illustrated the work of the emerging risks team and focussed specifically on climate change.

He presented some of the latest climate science and highlighted the number of industries that will be affected by climate change. He noted that advisors and company directors will be expected to have included reasonably foreseeable impacts of climate change in their business plans and suggested that those that do not do this may be a target for legal action in future.
