Prepared for pandemic?
In March 2008, the UK Government published its first National Security Strategy, which highlighted an influenza pandemic as being the highest civil emergency threat. In response, the Government vowed to take a more “integrated” approach to dealing with these types of risks.

Lloyd's and the XL Capital group, encompassing its global commercial insurance and reinsurance businesses, brought together some of the world's leading experts on pandemics for a seminar on London’s preparedness for an outbreak.

In April 2008, a panel of experts discussed police, infrastructure (including the London Fire Brigade) and health preparations, and how businesses could prepare and respond to the threat of a pandemic.
