Lloyd’s Agency is celebrating 200 years of existence this week with more than 170 agents who attended the Lloyd’s Annual Agency conference in London.
Delegates at the conference heard from speakers including Lloyd's CEO Richard Ward and Lloyd's Franchise Performance Director Tom Bolt as well as Robert Hiscox, Iain Ferguson, Vice Admiral George Zambellas and Lewis Gordon Pugh.
Agents from Brazil, India and China discussed their economies and the future opportunities that exist for the Lloyd's Agency network. And a Russian Agent spoke on the Russian Federation insurance market.
Established in 1811 by the Committee of Lloyd’s, the Lloyd’s Agency Network aims to protect the interests of Lloyd’s underwriters. Even back in the 1800s, it was crucial to establish a regular and universal system of intelligence and superintendence around the world, and quickly a global network of Agents developed to be the 'eyes and ears' of Lloyd's.
Since then, the Agency’s mandate has broadened and now comprises over 300 Lloyd’s Agents and a similar number of Sub Agents in over 170 countries. It is the world’s most extensive independent surveying and adjusting network providing 24-hour year-round service. Lloyd’s Agents cover all the main ports and commercial centres around the world.
