Lloyd’s opens facility in the heart of Canada’s financial centre
Lloyd’s has boosted its presence in Canada with the opening of a new office in Toronto.
Canada is Lloyd’s third biggest market, accounting for approximately 4% of the market’s premium income. The opening of Lloyd’s first permanent office in Canada's largest business, finance and insurance centre will enable Lloyd's Canada to manage its key relationships with regulators, brokers and cedants, who are all located in close proximity in downtown Toronto.
Deborah Moor, President of Lloyd’s Canadian operations, who will be based at the office along with Vice President & Attorney In Fact Sean Murphy, says: “We have had an office in Montreal since 1932, but Lloyd’s felt it was important to establish an office in Canada’s commercial centre.”
The office has hot desk facilities, a boardroom and catering facilities to provide an "office away from the office" for visiting underwriters – and the team has already started taking bookings.
Canada is Lloyd's second largest overseas market and Lloyd's Underwriters are the largest providers of liability and commercial property coverages in Canada.
