We are delighted to announce that, from today, candidates wishing to sit the Lloyd’s and London Market Introductory Test (LLMIT) will benefit from a host of new improvements to the study material, examination process and booking system.
This is the latest step in the evolution of the test which has played a key role in developing and maintaining benchmark standards within the market for over four years. The LLMIT was itself an evolution of the Lloyd's Introductory Test (LIT) which was established for more than a decade as an important step in gaining a wider understanding of how this market operates.
A consultation period throughout 2008-2009 highlighted the necessity for further innovation and investment in the LLMIT, and with support from market practitioners Lloyd's initiated a programme of improvements to address these concerns.
Improvements include:
- The ability to sit the LLMIT as a computer-based test available 365 days a year at over 5,000 test centres worldwide
- New eLearning content, mock examinations and practice papers to aid and enhance the study process
- A more streamlined candidate booking process
- Enhanced candidate support via dedicated telephone helpdesk, and email support
- Better access for candidates with disabilities
LLMIT is a multiple choice examination for those who are new to the London Insurance Market, or for those who want to gain a wider understanding of how this market operates. It develops and tests understanding of how business is traded in the London Insurance Market and the roles and responsibilities of those involved. It provides an essential grounding in the working practices and processes at Lloyd’s.
The LLMIT has been developed by the Lloyd’s LLMIT Education Committee (drawn from market representatives, subject matter experts and Corporation of Lloyd’s employees) as a way to enhance standards of knowledge, performance and customer care.
LLMIT provides an up-to-date solution for those seeking to develop their understanding of the London Insurance Market.
The examination consists of 75 multiple choice questions over 90 minutes. Candidates will be able to sit examinations from 1st August 2010.
Lloyd's is partnering with Edexcel to accredit LLMIT as a standalone BTEC qualification on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (subject to the approval of Ofqual). This will enable the LLMIT to be used towards ACII designation through the CII's accreditation of prior learning process. We expect that this process will be completed in the forthcoming months, and that LLMIT will continue to attract 15 credits towards the ACII. Lloyd's is also exploring becoming a lead awarding body for qualifications.
