Alex Faris has been based in Hong Kong as Lloyd’s General Representative since December 2004. Before that she worked with Lloyd’s Worldwide Markets in London on various projects including overseas coverholders, obtaining Lloyd’s licences in the EU Accession countries and compliance in Hong Kong and Ireland.
Alex joined the Corporation of Lloyd’s in 1997 on the graduate training programme and has worked in the International department/ Worldwide Markets since the end of the programme. She spent time on secondment in Lloyd’s offices in Paris (2000 and 2002) and Dublin (2003). She has a degree from Cambridge University in Geography and obtained her ACII in 2001.
Lloyd's Hong Kong Office exists primarily to protect Lloyd's licence and brand in Hong Kong and to conduct promotional activities to boost awareness of Lloyd's.
The office works extensively with local brokers and coverholders to provide them with relevant and timely information on developments at Lloyd's and in the local market and also to assist with client enquiries. Lloyd's Hong Kong ensures that underwriters and their coverholders comply with Lloyd's local regulatory requirements whilst supporting their business activities. London underwriters and brokers may utilise the services of the office as an information resource and to assist with developing business.
