Lloyd’s in France

A special decree in 1947 allowed Lloyd's to establish in France and Paris became its first office in Europe.

For 60 years, Lloyd's underwriters have had the ability to undertake direct insurance business in France. 

The French market is the second largest source of revenue for Lloyd's in Europe.  The turnover generated by France in 2008 amounted to over 500 million euros, divided between direct insurance and reinsurance.

In France, Lloyd's is best known as the market for large risks sea, space and aviation but it is also very active in property and casualty insurance.

Lloyd's underwriters also have the opportunity to work closely with brokers and are offered tailor made insurance products for specific risks.
