As well as providing the delegates with an in-depth explanation of Lloyd’s governance and supervisory environment, finances and business conduct, they also spent time in the Room with underwriters in order to see the market in operation. The programme also provided Lloyd’s with an opportunity to build relationships with important overseas regulators and for them to forge links with each other.
The Programme, which is now held annually and is partly funded by UK Trade & Investment, also facilitated frank and constructive discussions on current regulatory themes, a dialogue that was made all the more poignant by the fact that the event took place in the midst of the global financial crisis.
The feedback received from the delegates was extremely positive, with many expressing how helpful and informative they found the four days. Thanks to the programme, Lloyd’s has certainly strengthened its ties with a large number of key territories.
