Visits

Welcoming the insurance world to Lloyd's.

Our visit programme is designed to give brokers and journalists from around the world an opportunity to find out at first hand what makes Lloyd's unique.

Lloyd's visit programmes take a variety of forms, from one-day events to in-depth four-day courses, and target different key territories worldwide. Typically, they consist of a series of presentations explaining how Lloyd's works, followed by practical sessions which include box visits and broker-shadowing.

Our broker programme offers you the chance to raise the profile of your business and to build relationships with brokers seeking new avenues to place business.

The informal setting of our journalist programme is the ideal forum to develop beneficial relationships with opinion-formers eager to make contact with industry insiders. We always ensure key business and/or insurance journalists from leading national newspapers attend.

Annual programme

  • European Broker Programme
  • American Association of Managing General Agents (AAMGA) Visit
  • US Broker Programme
  • European Journalist Programme
  • Asia-Pacific Journalist Programme

How to participate
There are a number of ways in which you can take part in our visit programmes:

  • Box visits: managing agents host a box visit for an afternoon, allowing brokers and journalists to see at first-hand how risks are written
  • Broker shadowing: a broker or journalist shadows you for an afternoon, allowing them to understand how we place business
  • Hosting a lunch or evening event: an informal networking opportunity for underwriters or brokers
  • 'Hot topic' presentation: we always need market practitioners to participate in panel discussions, or present on a specialist subject

Education Tours
Educational tours are provided by the Lloyd’s Visits Manager or one of his team. The tours normally consist of a general talk on Lloyd’s followed by a tour of the building. There is a cost for providing these tours and this will either be charged to visitors direct by the guides or charged to the Corporation department organising the tour.

To arrange a visit to the Lloyd’s building, please contact Martin Leach on +44 (0)20 7327 6586 or email tours@lloyds.com.

All visits must conform to the visitor guidelines which will be explained prior to your visit. Guests will be met in reception by the Lloyd’s Visits Manager or one of the official tour guides.

At present, the next available bookings are in September 2008, however please email us your details and we will endeavour to accommodate your request.

Lloyd's will be participating in the Open House event in 2008 and our doors will be open to the public on 20th September.

If you would like more information regarding this event please visit the Open House section of the website by clicking here www.lloyds.com/openhouse.

VIP visits
Lloyd’s frequently hosts visits from royalty, dignitaries, politicians and business leaders. These visits are almost exclusively authorised by the Chairman’s office and arranged by a member of the events team.
