OMCs are firms that introduce business either directly into Lloyd's or into one or more sponsoring Lloyd's broker for placement on an open market basis, ie business that may be offered to and placed with any managing agent that is willing to underwrite it on behalf of its managed syndicate. Lloyd's requires that OMCs in certain overseas territories must be approved by Lloyd's attorney-in-fact or general representative before they can introduce business into Lloyd's (directly or through Lloyd's Brokers ) on an open market basis.
OMCs do not have the status of a Lloyd's approved coverholder. For the avoidance of doubt OMCs will ordinarily have no authority to represent or act for Lloyd's or Lloyd's underwriters. All entities are sorted alphabetically by name and by country where an OMC is domiciled.
