Because Lloyd's is an insurance market, not an insurance company, there is not a central policy or claims office at Lloyd's.
You can find out more information in our FAQs below.
How do I make a claim or get loss runs?
You should contact your insurance agent or the party named on the Declarations page of the policy as being responsible for handling claims.

How can I get more information?

In the event of a claim, policyholders should always follow the instructions set out in the insurance policy. The proper parties to be notified should be specified in the policy and they should be notified in accordance with the claims procedure of that policy.
Communication about the claim should take place between the insured and its agent, broker or the entity that sold the insurance to the insured. It is their responsibility to communicate with the Lloyd’s underwriters with whom they placed the insurance.
If an insured is unable to contact its US agent or broker or is having difficultly providing notice of a claim, a written request for assistance should be sent to:
Policyholder & Market Assistance
Lloyd's
One Lime Street
London EC3M 7HA
UK
e: complaints@lloyds.com
t: +44 (0)20 7327 5693
f: +44 (0)20 7327 5225
This request should include the following information:
- Policyholder name
- Policyholder address
- US broker name
- US broker address
- Type of policy
- Dates of policy
- Copy of insurance documentation to include where shown the Schedule of Syndicates with whom the risk has been placed.
The Policyholder & Market Assistance Department will attempt to identify the appropriate Lloyd's underwriters and bring the insured's correspondence to their attention. This is a voluntary service and in endeavouring to assist, Lloyd’s does not accept any legal responsibility.
It is important to note that the Policyholder & Market Assistance Department should only be contacted in cases where the insured is unable to communicate with their US agent or broker and/or where any alternative contacts designated within a policy have been approached for assistance without success.
Lloyd’s is not an agent for claims notifications on behalf of underwriters and this service is offered only where normal lines of communication may have broken down. In this situation it is possible that Lloyd’s may not be able to identify underwriters or otherwise be of assistance.
Lloyd’s Corporation is not the appropriate party for Service of Suit or Tenders of Defence and Indemnity. Such items have to be served on underwriters/their nominated agents.
Notification to Lloyd’s Corporation is not a substitute for notifying claims in accordance with the terms of the policy and/or compliance with the general law.
