One-Day Employability Workshops are run in schools in Tower Hamlets and aim to prepare students for the world of work. Lloyd's Community Programme supports two progammes, Getting Ahead and Head to Head which are summarised below.
Getting Ahead
GETTING AHEAD is a programme of employability skills based conferences for young people in secondary schools in Tower Hamlets. Volunteers work with small groups of young people through several workshops across a day long conference.
Each workshop covers a certain area of the world of work such as first impressions, employer expectations, problem solving, communication skills, presentation skills, putting together a good CV or application form, interview skills and team work. Head to Head
Head to Head is a practice interview programme to give students a real interview experience based on their CV in order to help them apply for employment or hidhger education.
Volunteer time is very flexible and can be as little as a half day session, although its also possible to volunteer for the full day. For more detailed information on Head to Head, please download Head to Head.
