Our generalist graduate programme is more than simply a series of placements. We expect the graduates we hire to be ambitious, hungry to learn and keen to push themselves out of their comfort zone. So, while some may join us feeling somewhat awed by the sheer amount to learn and absorb, everyone will leave the scheme having developed stronger as a person and a professional.
How exactly?
Firstly, you will have gained a great deal of confidence. Ours is a complex environment – but it is far from intimidating: you’ll find people willing to help and improve you at every turn. What’s more, you’ll benefit from training aimed at honing your communication. At the end of the scheme, you’ll find yourself readily challenging others, voicing your opinions, leading meetings and jumping straight in to contribute.
Secondly, you will have developed a strong network of contacts. Many of our graduates find that, even a couple of months in, they know more people than they expected to. It’s a network that’ll prove priceless throughout the scheme – and beyond it. When you finish, you’ll be able to draw on expertise at virtually any level, virtually anywhere in Lloyd’s.
You’ll understand the organisation, too. You’ll know Lloyd’s and the insurance industry extremely well. You should be something of a mini-authority on the subjects you’ve learnt. And you’ll be respected for what you’ve learnt and achieved.
Finally, you’ll have developed a heightened self-awareness: you’ll know where you need to develop; you’ll understand what your strengths are; and you’ll have a greater idea of where you want your career to lead.
