Generalist Graduate Programme

A great opportunity for you to develop your skills and gain valuable and varied experience in the Lloyd’s corporation.

If you want to become a business leader, this programme will develop the skills you need with a range of experience in both the Corporation and the market. You’ll have a choice of placements, so you can tailor your own development to your interests and explore different paths to help you decide which area of the industry you’d like to pursue your future career in. Of course, your experience will be augmented with formal training and workshops to hone your talent. And, working alongside people who are experts in their fields, you’ll build a huge network of contacts across the industry and beyond. All of which means you’ll be in an excellent position to take your career to the next level in either the Corporation or the market once you complete your training.

What will you experience?

Over 18 months you’ll choose three placements from a number of options, tailoring your own training to the areas that interest you. You could be examining the potential impact catastrophes might have on Lloyd’s. You could be managing relationships with international regulators. You could be helping underwriting specialists assess risks in the market itself.

You’ll also learn through formal training, workshops and seminars – as well as networking events. Of course, because our organisation is built upon relationships, much of what you learn will come from the talented colleagues around you. We’ll make sure you have the support you need, and monitor your progress to help you develop into a rounded professional with powerful business management skills that are highly regarded and highly transferable.

What will you need?

We look for people from all backgrounds who can bring in fresh thinking and different perspectives. But there are a few specific things that you’ll need:

  • At least a 2:1 (or an expected 2:1) in any subject
  • Natural communication skills
  • Flexibility
  • Analytical and creative thinking
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • The ability to take ownership of your work

> Learning & development

Potential is what we’ll hire you for. And we’re not about to let it go to waste once you join. We have designed the learning and development here to enable each one of you to gain a broad range of skills, through a variety of methods – internal and external courses, group learning and briefings and on-the-job development.

> Career options

At the end of eighteen months on the generalist graduate programme, you’ll have built up a comprehensive view of Lloyd’s, and have a range of unique experiences under your belt.
