The great shake 3 of 6

During the early hours of 18 April 1906, people were woken by their houses shaking. The earthquake struck at 5.13am with an epicentre near San Francisco.
Violent shocks punctuated the strong shaking, which lasted nearly a minute and was felt as far inland as central Nevada.
