Music for children: our specially composed programme
17 December 2008
There’s only one thing better than passing on a love for music, and that’s to pass it on to children and give them a lifelong source of inspiration and fun. Through Lloyd’s Community Programme’s Culture for Kids scheme, volunteers now have a chance to help school children in East London to develop their musical skills.
We’re launching our music project in spring 2009 in conjunction with Music Platform, a charity who will make sure you get full training alongside class teachers to help deliver ongoing programmes of music and singing.
The project will be launched in eight Tower Hamlets primary schools in March 2009. It will start with training sessions for teachers and Lloyd’s volunteers, run by Music Platform workshop leaders. Volunteers will then be invited to work alongside the workshop leaders in a series of weekly taster events and activities over a five week period. You’ll have an important goal, too: to prepare the children for a special concert that will be part of the 20th anniversary celebrations of Lloyd’s Community Programme in 2009.
If you’d like to know more about helping to spark creativity in children though music, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Community Affairs at Lloyd’s on +44 (0)20 7327 5925 or email hannah.payson@lloyds.com.
