Representatives from Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund will be joining Prince William and Prince Harry at the City Salute in London this week to recognise the dedication of Britain’s armed forces and raise money to support injured service personnel and their families.
Open to the public, the City Salute will take the form of a sunset pageant in front of St Paul’s Cathedral on 7 May. The event will feature a RAF fly past and aerial display, the Band of HM Royal Marines and ceremonial troops of the Household Cavalry. A spectacular light show will be projected onto St Paul’s itself.
Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund, one of the key sponsors of City Salute, donated £300,000 to SSAFA Forces Help, one of the two charities benefiting from the City Salute Appeal. This donation – the largest in Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund’s history – has been made in response to the urgent need to provide family accommodation near Headley Court and Selly Oak where injured service personnel are treated.
Clive de Rougemont, Chairman of Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund commented to lloyds.com: “Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund is delighted to be a Patron of the City Salute Appeal. Support for service personnel and their families is as important today as it was over two hundred years ago when Lloyd’s Patriotic Fund was established, and we join with the rest of the City to take this unique opportunity to recognise the contribution of Britain’s armed forces and their families.”
All are welcome to attend the City Salute event which will be taking place on 7 May. Details can be found in the City Salute link to the right.
