Eight A-level leavers from inner London had the chance to undertake paid work placements at five of the Lloyd’s market companies in Summer 2007 as part of the City Business Traineeship (CBT) Programme.
The programme aims to foster better links between companies in the Square Mile and young people in the neighbouring boroughs, ultimately helping the pupils who want to work in the City.
Beazley offered a placement within their Marketing and Communications team and Jane Roberts, Head of Corporate Communications commented, “I was genuinely impressed by the standard of all the candidates put forward through this programme and we were able to select someone who was a good fit for the team. I’d certainly hope to be able to do the same again next year.”
18 year old Cholé Hylton, undertook a placement at Jardine Lloyd Thompson. Cholé won the Highly Commended Trainee of the Year, in the programme’s award ceremony and now works permanently for the company. More placements are sought for 2008.
