£1,000 Bursaries to be won!

To mark 20 years of making a difference in local communities, 20 bursaries of up to £1,000 will be made to schools and community groups who are benefiting or have benefited from support from Lloyd’s Community Programme.

All volunteers (eg reading, number and computer partners, student mentors, team challenge participants) are welcome to apply for a grant for the community organisation or school they have volunteered with.

Guidelines:

The scheme is open to Lloyd’s Community Programme volunteers, who have been involved with LCP in 2008/09 and can only be made to schools or community groups supported by them through our volunteer schemes.

Bursaries can be used to purchase needed equipment and materials (these can be for a volunteer or non volunteer related activity eg a piano, sports equipment, books etc).

Bursaries can be made to support volunteer led trips for schools, but only where there is a clear educational benefit.

Bursaries cannot be made towards running costs or for general use.

Bursaries will only be awarded for a specific proposal which must be carried out/take place/be purchased in the academic year 2009/10.

Volunteers are encouraged to consult with the school/community group ahead of making an application for a bursary – (Applications must be made through volunteers and cannot be made directly by the schools etc).

20 bursaries of up to £1,000 will be available, but the full amount will only be donated if the Lloyd’s Community Programme Management Board feel that there are enough strong applications.

Decisions regarding eligibility of applications or beneficiaries, or interpretation of any of the other rules of the bursary programme will be at the discretion of the LCP Management Board. In the event of a high number of applications, the management board will look for applications which meet the criteria of the bursary programme and will seek to make awards that reflect the diversity of the applications and the Lloyd’s market itself.

Deadline for applications - Friday 18 September
