Helping hands

Mucking in at Spitalfields City Farm
Time:
One day

There are literally hundreds of community organisations operating in East London, and they’re always looking for an extra pair of hands.

You can forget the suit – this is old jeans and overalls territory, working with a team of helpers to benefit the local community.

The Spitalfields City Farm always has projects on the go, and our volunteers have found themselves doing everything from building pig pens and putting up sheds to laying water pipes. Similarly, you could be in a team that descends on a local church hall/community centre and gives it a total makeover. Or how about rustling up breakfast for 200 homeless people, not forgetting 400 cups of tea?

It’s worth mentioning to your boss that these assignments are a brilliant reason for a day out of the office, as a team-building or staff development day.

Of course, if you are the boss – when can we expect you all?
